Engine Oil

Featured Replies

Yeti 1.2tsi petrol 2017. I have 5 litres of miller's oil that's vw507 spec. Is this ok to use for an upcoming service. Just wondered if it is too high a spec. Car is set for annual servicing.

Carlodiesel. Have used miller's many times but found their recommended oil was also over soecced as being 504 and 507. I think it's 502 for annual servicing and 504 for extended. But finding anything less than 507 isn't easy. Wonder what the garages use. Just wondered if using 507 would be detrimental as I guess it contains detergents for diesels etc.

It is the correct spec for fixed or flexible servicing of a TSI.  Pre WLTP engines.  5w 30 full synthetic III.  (Long life).  They is VW 504 00 / 507 00.     Fixed serving is VW 502 00 so 5w 40 FS

Roottoot. Ours is a 2017 so one of the last yeti petrols. I would not have gone for a 597 oil had it not been for the fact that I have a 5 litre can unused. I was just concerned that it may be overspecced and containing anything not suitable.

The bottles and the spec says vw504 / 507.  TSI fixed or flexible is the 504 bit.   And a TDI even on fixed need 507.  So vw 504 / 507 is what is used.  Later for the WLTP they went VW 508 00 / 509 00.   Tsi 508. TDI 509.  0w 20 fs IV.

Ok, looks as if the 507 spec will do the job fine. It will only be in the car for a year ( and probably low mileage) despite being long life.  Thanks
