Clutch problem??

Hi all,

        I have a 2013 diesel octavia,been driving great since i got her 4 years ago ,yesterday the clutchpedal stayed down after a gerar change,been on to my regular garage and they said because it is a 6 speed gbox the slave cylinder is probably inside the g,box so its a g,box out maybe cost 1200 pound,has anybody had similar problems.Thanks.

Afraid so yes. I'd suggest asking them to advise on replacing the clutch (and DMF if fitted) when they drop the box.

Slave cylinder is within the clutch. Had the same issue at about 7 years old and 80000 miles. Had the clutch and dmf replaced as it was all apart anyway.

 

£1200 is excessive. Close to what the dealer quoted me. Clutch kit and dmf cost £720 and then £160 to fit.

Just a thought when you replace the clutch. The rear engine oil seal is known to be weak, so it might be worth having them replace that at the same time. You also don't want to have happen to you that happened to me. I had fitted £1700 worth of performance clutch and DMF on under 30k miles. After a couple of months the gearbox input shaft oil seal went and ruined all those new parts with clutch slip heat marks. so back to the specialist and I had to pay all that money again for the all those new parts to be replaced. So I would also have them replace the gearbox input shaft oil seal at the same time. I know extra expense, but not as much extra if it all goes wrong.
