Which coolant and oil? Skoda Fabia 2009/10?

Featured Replies

Hi, is there anywhere it says which coolant and oil to use? I bought the car secondhand and don't have the owners manual ☹️

@feebs77

Are you sure that your 2009 1.2 is a TSI?

If you had an owners manual you would probably still have had to asked here about oil because it would of told you to ask a Dealership.

5w 30 FS III for fixed or variable servicing,

but your car was maybe not a code for variable.  VW 504 00 / 507 00.

So best use 5w 40 FS & fixed Servicing so VW502 00.

Coolant was G12 i think back then and now we are at G13 / G13 plus.  It is pink VW stuff.

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback.

I was trying to figure out if my car needed coolant or oil.

After reading the handbook it doenst need either.

The problem - which seems a common one, is that the exhaust symbol has turned to amber. No idea why.

6 months ago I had the same symbol go amber constantly. I took it to a diagnostics garage who said it was something to do with sensors that regulate fuel /exhaust. No idea.

They replaced them and exhaust amber light went out.

Now the problem has come back and I'm worried I paid a load of cash that didn't solve the whole problem.

☹️

When was the Oil & filter last changed?

Have you tested the coolant to see what the strength is?

The fault you have is not that common, hopefully someone can help you so that you are not ripped off by someone not resolving the issue.

?

Is your car a 1.2 TSI?

How many miles has it done?

?

When were the spark plugs changed last?

Hi

It's a Fabia 1.2 HTP.

55,000 miles

I have owned it 1.5 years.

I don't think it's ever had an oil filter, spark plug change since in my ownership.

It's been serviced and MOT once.

I wouldn't know how to test the coolant.

Do you think I need to go to a garage?

Forget the Oil & Coolant for now if there is enough in.

You do need the Exhaust Emissions / Engine light issue sorted out.

?

What Servicing was done?

???

How much were you charged for a diagnosis and a sensor replaced?

I would have thought that had it been serviced, it would have had the oil and filter changed as that is the very basic-ist of services...

That said, in a year and a half, it certainly needs one and they tend to be very fussy on oil and filters so clean, fresh oil of the correct type is essential. Whilst I understand roottoot's comment, I would ALWAYS start at the basics. As long as the coolant is at the correct level fine but oil needs to be done on time, every time!

The Oil and Filter needs changing, but for now the reason an Engine / Exhaust emissions light is on needs diagnosing.

?

Is it as simple as Spark Plugs or Coil?   Is it a lambda sensor?  What is the issue?
