Dried stain inside LED headlamp FL

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I just noticed the driver's side headlamp on my car has a big stain on the inside, not sure if it's just dried soap or if the plastic itself has stained. I've read a few posts about people getting condensation but haven't seen anything like mine. I used a garden hose for a hand wash the other week but didn't really notice it at the time.

I had a look at the assembly but couldn't figure where the water could have gotten in from. The car hasn't had any bumps and the headlamp looks undamaged too. Looking inside I could see a couple of spots where I think the water dropped from.

I guess there isn't any way to clean it but is there something I should be checking or avoiding to prevent it from happening again?

I would say definitely water, condensation looks different to that .

Are all the rubber covers at the back of the light on properly?

Thanks for replying! I had a look at the back again and nothing seems out of place compared to the other side. It seems like water dropped in from the corner right above the dipped light but I can't figure out how.

Any idea what I should be looking for at the back of top?

There's a substantial amount of water got in by the look of it.

Realistically the only place water could get in is where I mentioned before, the rest I would think is sealed.

From the pictures it doesn't look like the water has run down from the top. You may have to take the light out to check it.

... or should be. There would be no harm checking that the seal is complete while the light is out.

Thanks guys, looks like headlight removal is the way to go to find out what happened.

I poured lots of water over/around it in the hope seeing some go in but no luck.

Just out of curiosity   have you been through any heavy rain or floods recently?

Nope the weather has been alright here, just the occasional rain.

I did rinse the car 4 times for decontaminating prior to a fresh wax so it may have been too much water at some point. Guess I just need to be more careful and use less water in the future.

It was just a thought.
