Should we sell ur Yeti?

Featured Replies

Not a strange question, just throwing it out there. I had some time on my hands this afternoon and perused my local Skoda dealership and enquired about a Yeti trade in. Yes sir I was advised Yeti’s are desirable, so I looked at the second hand stock. What a boring pile of metal. The Scala was nice as a small estate care. There was a lovely Kamiq with a sun roof Monte Carlo  ( enough said) . I looked at the Karoq our nearest equivalent and even entertained the Octavia estate.

Then I got back in the Yeti and thought “ what a nice place to be”

They were telling the truth they are very desirable and they could sell it and make a profit.

Not that many salespeople ever tell a prospective buyer with a car to trade in that their can is not of any interest to them or anyone else and is worth nothing.

There are some but they usually do not last long selling cars.

Roottoot you are right, they had four Yeti’s on the forecourt, most began with a £15, which made my offer of £14 seem sensible. Its just the current offering is so bland compared to the quirky nature of the Yeti. I have to say the sales guy was both grounded and knowledgeable, a rare combination in sales people.

..just in the process of (regretably) changing ours, (1.4 awd L&K). We have had it from 2 years old and 7k miles, and I always said i would change after 3 years of ownership, but covid struck and I have been at a loss as to what to replace it with. If they still made the yeti it would be a no brainer to get another one. I now really want an auto and have tried several small SUVs as a potential replacement includig Vitara, Kamiq, T-Roc, Q2, Mazda CX30, Arona et all. I test drove the latest Yaris Cross and decided that it was the car for me, but I did not want to wait 6+months, (same with a new Viatara), so I have ended up with my 2nd choice which is a Kia Nero self charge. Hoping to collect it soon, (pre-registered).

When I first started looking (pre-pandemic) WBAC were offering around £12k, andd a few months ago it peaked at £17k, which is virtually what I paid for it! More recently it has settled back to £14k, but the dealer has offered me £14.5 part ex. Normally I would expect it to be worth around £10k after 4 years..

We have loved the Yeti (probably the best car we have ever owned), despite a few "niggles", very practical and has averaged 44mpg (actual) since we got it, which I don't think is too bad for an (occasional) 4*4, and after cleaning it today it looks almost as good as new! (31k miles on the clock), but it is time to move on and I really want an auto, and with Kia at least you get the assurance of a 7 year warranty....but I will miss some of the toys! (Never used the "self park" option..).

@Welshyetiman - No, because selling my Yeti without my permission is taking without owner's consent, followed by reset.
