Hello, sorry for the long wait in any update. After a month or so the noise does appear to have come back, I do now think I know the reason.

Where the black plastic sits where the belt goes through, there’s a bolt or screw that holds that in, I have a feeling that just needs tightening, I’ve had a look in my Girlfriends Polo which is practically identical, and hers seems a lot more firm, mine however pretty loose, I think it’s a Torx screw of some type, so I am going to take the plastic casing off and see if it tightens, I will try remember to post an update once I’ve done this!

I will also try find a picture from Google to show the plastic part I’m talking about.

Here's the torque values if you need.

The squished looking document looks fine if you zoom on phone, or here on PC.

But cheers for assist.

More proof that I have a very cheap old monitor then, I can see it at 400% zoom but it's as if looking at it the other side of a house window with net curtains (for those old enough to know what they are).

Please, let us know, if the rattle sound disappeared. If so, how did you solve it? Thanks :)

Hello, I'm sorry for the slow reply back, with work and the time of year I simply kept forgetting to send a reply!

Eventually I gave up trying to find it and stopped listening for it, however I do think I eased the noise to some level but not by doing anything with the seat belt adjuster. A lot of people did mention that sometimes noises don't always come from where you think, so with some some GT-85 spray I sprayed all the rubber seals around the back doors, the door locking mechanisms and even the hinges... And I can't say it's been as noticeable since.

I do occasionally hear a slight rattle when the music is low but it doesn't really bother me now and besides with the cold weather and the fact the car is constantly ageing there's other little noises here and there so it kinda just blocks it out! If you are experiencing the same issue I had though, I'd try giving the doors a good spray and use a cloth to rub in the spray into the rubber weather lining like I did, because I do think all this time it was the back doors making the noise behind me and not the seatbelt adjuster. Any questions I'll do my best to get back asap.👍
