225/45/17 94w Michelin cross climate

Featured Replies

Hit a big chunk of metal last week and destroyed a newish tyre.  Been to Costco and they no longer stock 225/45/17 94w for my 2017 Octavia Estate.  Can't find any online, all out of stock.  I guess Michelin have stopped making them.

Can I put another manufacturers' all weather tyre on eg GoodYear vector or do I have to buy two new tyres?  They were only fitted in February and have only done about 4000 miles.

Thanks 👍

No reason why you couldn't put a GY on but it depends on how comfortable you'd feel about having two different tyres on the same axle.

This any help? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224627643344

Edit: Just noticed they are 94V rated

Same thing happened to me and I ended up with 2 new tyres across the axle for peace of mind. The cross climate has a specific feel and I wasn't willing to mess with the ballance. Strangely enough I went to V4S too. New ones on the back of course. The Goodyear has a winter lean compared to the summer lean of the Michelin so the "grippier" tyre should go on the back. Especially as it's new too.

They have 'updated' them to Cross Climate 2, but that was way before February I think? They are 94 Y rated so higher speed rating... not that you'll get there 😉

Virtually identical tread from visual appearance.

Black Circles have them for £101.87 each today, fitted locally (there's a 15% off code).

Thanks, I ordered one Y rated tyre with the 15% discount.  The local fitter is just round the corner from my work 👍.  Costco price was similar but a 50 mile round trip.  Here's hoping I don't puncture any more tyres anytime soon 😭
