Electric tailgate - beeping at the top

Featured Replies

My electric tailgate has started beeping when it gets to the top.. It happened after it didn;t close properly.. Any ideas how to stop it?  or even turn all the beeping off altogether?  I did this via VCDS on my last Superb, but not not if it can be done on my MY21 Kodiaq..

Have you somehow set up a height stop restriction which causes the beeping?

you’re not the only one - mine started a couple of weeks ago. Annoying as hell, but it doesn’t beep every time, just most of the time.

Ours doing this also, anyone had a solution?

Have you tried to manually push the bootlid the whole way up then hold the button for 5sec? Should make a confirmation sound then you can see if that's solved the issue.

Thanks for the reply, have tried that several times.  Sometimes works for a while... until it doesn't. Sometimes doesn't make a difference at all.

Also I find it interesting that the 2022 Kodiak electric motors are much more resistant to moving the bootlid manually than the ones in my 2020 Octavia.. but then my Octavia doesn't do the aggressive beeping so... 🤷‍♂️

Mine was in for its first service last Friday, got them to look at the beep, they said it was normal.. it definitely didn't do it when I got it .

Forgot to update this.  Car was in at the dealer for both this aggressive beeping and also the virtual pedal only working intermittently.

They replaced the "boot control module" (may not be actual name) after talking with Skoda NZ and this has solved both problems (so far - touch wood).

If it beeps when it goes up then there is normally a fault. Will need plugging in to check for fault codes first of all.

Probably a electronic strut sensor has failed.

Should have asked for them to demonstrate a showroom/ forecourt Kodiaq tailgate that beeps when fully open if it’s normal.

Never thought of that actually.. doh

This is fixed by opening the boot lid fully, manually pushing it all the way up to ensure it is fully open, and then following the instructions in the manual for setting the maximum opening height (basically pressing and holding the button on the underside of the boot lid). The beeping when the boot finishes opening is the car alerting you to the fact that the boot isn't quite fully open.

It wasn't beeping from new, but started a few months ago... it's now not beeping again after resetting the opening height by holding the button when it's open. Let's see if that lasts...

Nope. Didn't beep the first time after (re)setting it - but then started beeping again after that. Same every time I (re)set it.

Did you manually push the boot up to ensure it was at it's highest point before pressing and holding the button to set it?

Yes. Even tried pulling it down a bit and pushing it again to make sure I could actually move it... but each time it is opening all the way to the top. And then 🤬 beeping.

If you reset the boot (in any position) and you find you are still getting intermittent loud aggressive beeping then there is a fault so take it back to the dealer.

They replaced the "Boot Control Module" on ours and it has solved the problem all of the time.

Yeah - that was my next course of action... it's due a service next month so will get it sorted then.

Where is the buzzer located?

Does anyone have a good photo for watch it?

Thank you

My Octavia VRs is now doing this. Had a new battery installed last week and has done it intermittently since. I’ve tried the reset after ensuring fully opened and worked for a short period but the higher pitch warning tone still appears intermittently . Very annoying. I’ll be ringing the dealer up tomorrow as only had the car 3 weeks
