I received my Octavia two months ago and so far I am very happy with it. When I was ordering it and selecting additional equipment there was a rather expensive option for a virtual pedal so I decided against it. What I didn't realize is that without it there is also no electric boot functionality. There was no mention of that on the configurator page in my country.

 

I checked the internet and it seems the original power liftgate functionality can be retrofitted, but it costs three times as much as if I ordered it in the beginning. I have to check with my local service but this is definitely too expensive. I saw there are also several third party options which are cheaper. Does anyone have any experience with this and can recommend which solution works best.

Anyone ever try this: Autoease Power Liftgate Retrofit?

I believe there is an aftermarket product that you can get that is not powered but merely just a really strong piston. When you hit boot release button it opens the boot. The only issue is it is difficult to close as the piston is pushing against you. I think it may only be an option for hatchbacks too.
