Foot operated tailgate

Featured Replies

We have the option on our 2 month old sportline, however we have about a one in seven success rate with the feature, with bruised shins to show after some attempts go astray.

We mentioned this to our salesman who told us that it was quite normal to have this low success rate. (No mention of this before we bought it!)

Has anyone had a better success rate for this kick-opening or any advice on technique?

On my old Superb I found a wave of the foot to be much more successful that a kicking action.

Conversely I always found that a one off kick was the best thing to do.

Battle of the John Boys! 😀

Lol

No battle - just differing opinions. 🤝

No problem for us, you just have to find the sweet spot under the rear bumper and try to repeat.

I had difficulties when I first had mine.  The key for me was when I realised that there's actually a time lag between kicking below the bumper and the boot opening, as opposed to an instantaneous response when pressing a button.  Having cottoned on to this, I have 100% success.

Goodness, did you know we had never thought of that!

The sensor is under the bumper but to the offside. There is a small panel under the bumper where it fits. You need to kick or wave foot under bumper towards near side of the car for the sensor to work, as it seems to look towards the kerb under bumper.

I have nearly 100% success now.
