Engine code sticker

Featured Replies

Hi Octavians,

I need a help with the engine code sticker that is located on the timing belt cover on the right side of the engine.

The original sticker was washed out so I managed to get another sticker peeled it from another engine. I believe my engine is AKL - but I am not sure. My car is MK1 2003 engine 1.6 petrol wire throttle auto gear.

The engine was replaced but I dont know its code.

Is there a way to know the engine code without the sticker on the timing belt.

PS: attached another sticker I peeled off from another engine. If you can help and write me the missing letters plz

Sorry for the long post 😬😬

AKL Is indeed a 1.6 Petrol engine

To verify that it is correct, as you did mention engine was replaced.

Use the full options sticker normally found on the boot floor.

What is the point on a Sticker from another engine for a code if not sure what your engine / code was ?

The Engine in the car has a stamped engine number.  Maybe not clear for you to see but if a Police officer or Insurance Loss Adjuster wants to see it they will find it.

The Engine number that was on the engine leaving the factory or if a change was notified is on the V5.

Thank you Ken. I clarified that the engine was already replaced and I am not sure about about the code of the new engine. I cant use the data from the vehicle as it reflects the original motor not the new one

I missed that sorry. You're stuck with finding the stamped on engine number or hoping the V5 is correct then.
