MOT FAIL - FACTORY XENON HEADLIGHTS!

Featured Replies

Hi all

Today I had my car MOT'd at Halfords Tunbridge Wells. When I arrived to collect it I was initially told it had failed due to "someone fitting an aftermarket HID kit."

I promptly informed them that it was infact a factory option & pointed out it had the necessary self levelling motors, washers etc.

After a bit of a discussion & a check of the beam pattern they did issue a pass seemingly reluctantly.

Has anyone encountered similar issues?

🤐 Nope, but you'll never go there again.

Xenon's - check

Headlight washers - check

Level sensors - check

Mechanic clueless - check

Halfrauds banned from carrying out MoTs, check. The reason being that the "technician" clearly did not check for headlight washers and auto leveling equipment before issuing a spurious fail.

There's better independent garages than hellfrauds ever will be. Or maybe even seek to using a council-owned MOT station next time. :)

I was glad I didn't put Halfords and Mechanic in the same sentence, it would have broken the internet.

They bring a lot of shame on the profession, along with other places.

You just did:  it didn’t, but it was a huge risk to take...

🤞🤞

I even used quotes around technician.

The person who failed it probably did so because he's fitted such a kit to his own car...   (based on my knowledge and previous experience of Halfords 'technicians'...)

And probably fitted to reflector style headlights too 🤔
