Anyone know what the latest update is for this unit,  and if any benefits to be had from upgrading from hardware version h11

Software version 5238

Map version 8195.

Also there is an option to downgrade built in and if that gets me full brightness which i would have lost when upgraded to 5238 as that came with automatic light dimming as opposed to built in control i might even do that.

But if anyone knows of what the latest upgrade is and gains?

@Rustynutspls chime in

VAG don't provide a change log with each release.

Usually they don't add features, but always exception's where they load something missing.

If you can find Software Train I could look for possible updates

Software train?

It's the firmware loaded onto the head unit.

Might vary, but usually you hold down the menu button a few seconds to enter hidden menu.

Some of the files have been modified, and I am not sure what they have touched.

You can ask me for whichever ones you wish to try, I cannot guarantee the validity of the files.

I would highly recommend you stick with the 5xxx series, and not jump to 6xxx series of updates (they could be for completely different hardware revisions)

@varooom you still have to learn a bit about RNS510 series ;) It's NOT possible to go from 5xxx to 6xxx, 6xxx (as a matter of fact there are only 2 firmware from this series - 6270 and 6276) is dedicated for hardware versions H14, it will not work with older version (C3/C4/C6/C8/C10/C12).

@foru2justnvyour unit is version C6, 5238 is the best firmware for you, Downgrade is possible - you must enable downgrade first in 3rd SETUP screen (keep SETUP button as long as 3rd screen pops up).

Loads, but have little interest in the old beasts.  I didn't have time to examine the contents earlier as my son took laptop away to code Audi A3, but can see now I did have some RNS510 firmwares tucked away on my NAS for several years (gathering much dust)  One thing I do know, and did state before you post was to stick with 5xxx version and not jump 6xxx (now I have examined I can see the C14 in 6xxx)

The files will be archived in NAS, odds are unused by me 😆

I shall be sure to leave these dinosaurs in your capable hands also!

Well, to load 6260/6276 into units older than C14 you have to change some IDs in the unit with the service software (e.g. SetConfig) or have the software modified and new checksums calculated - however both don't make any sense as GPS chipset is different in C14 so after loading 6270/6276 to the older unit GPS will not work.
