Don't overlook the usual stuff

Featured Replies

Isn’t it 1 year/12k miles? I am not saying that’s what Skoda recommends, but what air filter manufacturers put as change intervals? I’m pretty sure that’s what I read on Mann’s packaging last time I changed mine.

2 years / 20,000 mil with Skoda UK,  that used to be at a Major Service when it was Minor / Major Servicing Fixed or Major / Major Variable.

I change air filter annually and pollen filter biannually.

I think quite a lot of us might have reduced this over lockdown 2 yrs when many cars sat on drives and did much reduced mileage, I did not neglect oil changes, just that the pollen filter still looked new first time I removed it so just a quick vac and back in it went .... then suddenly 2 yrs had flown by ...

I would normally do it every other service honest!!

A shake and vac and a clean and disinfect around the filter area is often all that is needed.  If the filter is dry.     I get annoyed where a filter is just replaced and no cleaning carried out where it is so the stour is just as it was.

Yeah Root - that's what I say - when I do stuff myself there lots of things a garage wouldn't do.

A little ashamed to admit that I have never cleaned the space a filter would go apart from a quick vacuum. What do you use to clean the filter housing? A spritz of Dettol or something a bit more involved?

Anything of that sort.
