power steering rack info

Featured Replies

Power steering decided to spring a leak a few months back and stupidly i decided to try some Fix leak additive into the power steering fluid, initially power steering went rock hard then went back to normal. ive since had to fill it back up twice (method in madness is to dilute the additive from the system)

i have priced up a recondition rack at around £150, is this a simple job (ill probably not attempt it myself) but is there any things that would catch me out ie steering angle sensor, it need programming in etc

Thanks In Advance,

Ade

It's a very difficult DIY job since the subframe needs lowering and that means a four poster, easy for a professional garage.

was thinking it might be a bit beyond me, but taking the above into account its a straight forward job to a mechanic, as in no programming or any such like?

No, it's a purely mechanical part, no programming needed. It's actually an incredibly easy job if you have the facilities, I've done them on the ground when I was younger and slimmer but it's not fun and takes more than twice as long.
