Why not get an OBDII plug in and the VAG DPF app on your phone to monitor the DPF
This is mine from last week while doing a Regen, the Oil Ash % is what matters, that will determine how long your DPF will last before being replaced or taken off the car and given a professional clean with chemicals.

Sounds a plan, my car is past 80k now so just trying to keep her running nice. 

Any decent OBDII scanner will do and VAG DPF app for android (only) phone on Google Play Store

google search or amazon!
