Reverse camera coding

Featured Replies

I think the guidelines are generated by the camera so coding won't help.

What camera did you install? If it's aftermarket, there is sometimes a wire link that needs cutting to enable them...

Yes it is aftermarket, I cut the wire for the lines as I saw in videos that the system provides dynamic lines

I will try your coding tomorrow

Then I expect you shouldn't have. I'd try reconnecting the wire.

Using highline coding on a lowline camera will cause lots of fault codes. It won't solve your problem.

Then what camera should I use?  The same as the one I the op of the topping you posted your codes?

I prefer OE/OEM solutions, that's why I fitted an original camera using the factory wiring diagram. This gives me all the features of a factory fitted camera including a washer jet. It's also fully diagnostic compatible and allows calibration. They are currently about £70 on aliexpress. For example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000197729171.html

Wayland (the OP from that thread) choose a Chinese self programming cameras as it's a plug and play job. Plenty of people use this style as there is no coding required. This makes them easier to install and slightly cheaper, about £40 on aliexpress. For exmaple: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html (MQB-CAM A)

As to which you should fit, that's completely down to you. The only obvious issue is early MK3's had a small boot handle switch so the OE camera won't fit, in which case the Chinese solution makes more sense. For example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html (MQB-CAM E)

Please double check before buying that's it's correct for you car...

It might be worth adding a link to the camera you have installed as that might give some clues as to your installation issue :)

Unfortunately I have the small boot handle.

The camera I have is this one option D.

I had an Android head unit so it was running in ahd and was ok. Now that I fitted an mib2 as reverted to analog, I have waves.....

Power is delivered by the 12 back wiper.

I guess I will have to go with the 3rd link you provided.

So the option E of the third link will allow all the coding you made to get all the options?

I think something is getting misunderstood...

OE highline camera

- First link I posted: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000197729171.html

- Only fits in the larger boot handle hole

- Needs the coding I posted in the other thread

- Supports different the view modes I posted

Chinese style highline camera

- Second/third link I posted: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000230897829.html

- Options for both sized boot handle holes

- No coding required, they some how automatically recode the headunit

- Only supports moving guidelines, no other view modes are supported

Chinese style lowline camera

This is the camera you've installed, there are lots of variants which all behave slightly differently so it can get confusing.

Based on the link you posted, option D has two wire links (image below):

- Green turns the static parking lines on/off

- White changes the output format between CVBS and AHD

I would suggest either cutting or re-joining the green wire should enable parking lines :)

You can also fit a 'Chinese style highline camera' but you'll need to un-code the lowline camera and run a new wire from the headunit to camera.

Ok understood, in thing I will go with a high line Chinese as I have the small handle and the camera I have hase ripples and waves. The power comes from the rear wiper where I also have the transformer for the dash cam. It must be giving dirty power to the camera.

Everything is clear now, thanks

Can you supply us a link to what you have attempted to fit, how you have fitted it and what you have messed with coding/settings wise?

I personally cant stand the lowline option and even worse is the chinese highline as it intercepts and adjusted the coding automatically, wouldnt recommend fitting something that you dont know exactly what its doing.

The first option suggested by @langers2k is the best and only option i would be fitting,

  • Author

Shure I would happily go for that option but it is only compatible with the big boot handle. Unfortunately I have the small handle.

I posted the camera I fitted one or 2 posts earlier. In then changed bit 4 of byte 19 to enable reverse camera low.

Greeny has a highline camera that does not auto code. It may be also a solution

Hello,

I have skoda Octavia 2019 MK3, I am looking to install Reverse Parking Camera.

I am considering Wayland (the OP from that thread) choose a Chinese self programming cameras as it's a plug and play job. Plenty of people use this style as there is no coding required. Should it work in my car plugged and play my self or it will need professional installer with coding ? I know it`s mentioned there it won`t need coding but want to ensure same applies to my Skoda MK3.

Will appreciate any help

Thanks

I have this installed on my NFL O3 and was plug and play for me on MIB2. But after 2 years it is not working anymore .... a few month ago sometimes the image was displayed distorted and in black and white and yesterday i think it just died ... display is all black.
It worked perfectly until it did't :)
