Can't 'become primary user' in Skoda Connect

Featured Replies

Finally getting around to setting up Skoda Connect....

I have created an account linked to the car by the VIN. I've logged into my account in the car so it recognises me, however when I try to 'become primary user' I just get a 'Please Wait' message. I've given it about 10 minutes but nothing. At this point you're supposed to be able to register the keys so you can set personal options. Any ideas?

A further question... My wife and I share the car, will she have to create her own Skoda Connect account, how / where do we set who's key is who's? At the moment the car recognises me regardless of which key I use.

Worried I am now officially too old and stupid to use my car, I might need to delegate to one of my teenagers!

I just picked up my car today...
The Skoda representative has made himself Primary User in the delivery preparation process. So later in the day, at home, I had to go through several attempts to become the Primary user. I followed the first steps indicated by Skoda Connect app on my phone, but first few attempts failed. No idea why...
I think the fourth or fifth attempt was successful - now I'm the Primary user of my car. Each time I had to validate via both keys, and go through the "setup" process.
Concerning the second user: I guess you and your wife have to have  a serious discussion in order to decide who's the Primary User... 😃

All kidding aside, the way I understand it (without carefully going through the Manual) I think you can only have 1 primary user and a Guest (ore more). The car should recognize who is who from the used key.

IIRC the dealer has to validate you as a valid user of the car to authorise you as Primary User.  I needed to provide proof of ownership, ID and address to the service dept. so the Master Technician could do it.

Would like to think the selling dealer could do that without a return trip to the showroom/workshop.

To answer your second question - yes, she will have to create her own account. She can do it through my skoda app on her phone and then log in on the infotainment or create an account in the infotainment (menu - users - plus sign). As for the key assignment, follow the instructions in the photo (haven't done that so am unable to help)

Came back today from my first oil change at the dealership. Rather bizare coincidence that now I can’t change the user. It’s permanently set to guest. Whenever I try to change it I get a message that says the operation can’t be done now. I’ve tried so many different ways and times. I’m lost. Internet was of no use to me. Any ideas before I start yelling at the service people?
Thanks

Did you ever get an answer to this?

After weeks of trying everything - back to the dealers (no luck) - this chat room - Google - contacting Skoda directly finally got this........

So you have to PAY and buy a WiFi hotspot to get rid of the 'pop up' location setting warning AND to become the Primary User.

Won't be doing that!

Dave

Thank you for your email.

To become the Primary User in your Škoda vehicle, it is indeed necessary to purchase a Wi-Fi service. This is the only way to eliminate the persistent messages regarding your location and the prompt to become the Primary User.

If you have further questions or need assistance with the purchase, please us know!

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

To be fair I think the cheapest WiFi bundle pack is £5 for a week of WiFi so I might do it just to see if it works and if it comes back once the WiFi has run out
