OEM glow plugs for vrs TDI

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am getting a repeated orange engine light for glow plug voltage drops, and with the car at 102k it seems likely that i will need a whole new set of glow plugs.

I've seen advice that recommends buying OEM replacements, but i can't find OEM versions anywhere.

Euro car parts have Bosch plugs, are the Bosch versions of comparable quality to OEM?

Thanks

Who manufactured the OEM ones for the VW Group / Skoda?

because VW Group will not have manufactured them.

Can you show us the exact fault code youre getting?

And glowplugs can last a lot more than 100k so really need to find out exactly what the issue is as it could be plugs, module, wiring etc.

OEM is original equipment manufacturer meaning they are aftermarket but the same brand that make OE ones.

OE is original equipment - genuine parts with the car manufacturers stamp on them.

Which are you looking for?

I've not taken them out but thinking it might be Bosch (just a guess!)

That fault code says there is a problem with the cylinder 4 glow plug not all of them.

Before buying a new glow plug(s) it's worth checking the wiring to that glow plug for continuity and the connector(s) for any signs of corrosion - if it's one of those then it will be a much cheaper fix.

Yeah i know it's glow plug 4 but other advice i had read said to replace them all if mileage is 100k+

Will have a go at testing with multimeter

There are 4/5 different manufacturers for the VW group glowplugs including Bosch, NGK, Beru and some more

I purchased NGK and they quickly went faulty again. Fitted genuine plugs and not had any issus since. From what a VAG specialist said is that the system is very sensitive to resistance and to always fit genuine plugs.

I would always buy genuine after the headache I had with them.
