Remapping on a stock clutch

Featured Replies

I do wish those buying fuel bothered to find out what they get.   ESSO filling stations in much of the UK are supplied by Greenergy who supply Tesco fuels and produced Momentum 99.  Greenergy part owned by Tesco.    Greenergy partner with Royal Dutch Shell for importing and storing base fuels.    As the chart up the section shows with ESSO.  Ethanol content not equal around the UK.   The TSI,s love the Ethanol, and the higher Octane.    If you go abroad you might know how good 100+/ 102 Ron is.  Or if you buy track petrol.

Ps.  I thought common sense told people in the UK that you buy a car with 150 ps or 245 ps as a maximum, and a Nm figure and it comes in a tax band and insurance band that is not max output, it is the Minimum.   That is a figure on 95 Ron.   You are never in the UK going to drive below sea level, or higher than 3,500 feet above, or in temps above 45*oC of below -35.  Or on lower octane than 95 Ron.        So basically you get what you pay for and more.   Sometimes more than VW or Audi get from the same engines compared to a cheaper Skoda or Seat.

I did hear a rumour that these engines produced more power as stock than originally claimed.

Many Gen 3 GTi's have been rolling roaded at around 260bhp stock. So the gain whilst still good isn't 100bhp

Yeah it's not uncommon. I've read that BMW are notorious for claiming one figure, but it's actually wildly different, almost always more, so can't complain at that!

It is probably so that nobody goes back and complains that their engine isn't producing the specified power.

It could also be due to the fact that if they told the true power it could hurt sales of the more powerful/more expensive models in the range.

How did your standard clutch get on with the remap?

FYI, it depends heavily on the car. If it's an MQ200, you can expect some slippage. If it's an MQ350, you'll be okay.
