Installing cruise control in fabia estate MK1 1.9tdi manual.

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've seen a thread on this before but I have a few questions specific to my car.

Old thread

Looking at the diagram given here it looks like there should be 4 connections to make one under the drives steering column, one to the break pedle replacing an existing wire, one to junction box  and one to the old wire on for the break pedel.

My harness only has three connections on it. I bought it from ebay from this seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265204146948?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Iin_GNP6SL2&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=ew7Htdn8TX6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP

My question is where does this original blue and red break pedel wire go too? Is it even required? If anyone can shed some light on this I would be very greatful.

Best regards

Tom

I'd say you need the kufatec wire and the original wire to both connect to the brake pedal switch connector. That's being used as the fused power source from fuse 28. Neither cruise nor original function of the brake pedal switch will work if the blue/red isn't connected.

@Tech1e is your man for CC related things.

On the Kufatec harness the 10 pin connector goes to the switch, the 6 pin connector goes to XS3 on the central electrics control unit, the female terminal goes to the fuse box (ignition supply), and the male terminal is the connection to the ECU, that goes up to the bulkhead connection point.

@Tech1e is what I said above wrong then? I'm confused.

I'll be honest I hadn't read your reply, I just said what needed connecting.

You are correct, the pedal connection is merely borrowing the ignition live. Can just as easily come from the fuse box, from pin 2 of the headlight switch, or from the relay board. Whatever is easiest for the installer.

Thanks for the advice here. I was able to get the female pin connected to switched live.

What I then struggled with is connecting the male pin to the bulkhead connection. It doesn't simply slip into pin 10 on t11a and I can't seem to get the connector to release from the block to remove the locking clip for repinning.

Also can I confirm if on a 2004/2005 pre facelift ATD used t11a or t11b I have both connectors and the pins on both are free / unused.

Thanks again

100% either t11a or t11b, they all have the white wire to the ECU.

Do you know whether it was manufactured before or after May 2004? According to wiring diagrams that's when the change from one to the other connector happened. Not sure if that does or doesn't coincide with when the Facelift happened?
