Deep down I know that about the cleaner 😞 but if I need to fork out 700+ then 25 quid on a spray can is worth a punt I thought haha.

I was looking at these also, I was more worried about the exhaust gas running very hot I'm not sure of the affects on the engine.

Cheers.

Has anybody used fixter before? Comes with 12month warranty and it states only manufacturer replacement parts. Hmmm.

I believe these are similar to Click Mechanic and Who Can Fix My Car, they use 'OEM' parts so they will be aftermarket parts from the likes of Whaler, Bosch, Delphi etc; they won't be VAG branded.

The parts are usually sourced from places like GSF Car Parts, Euro Car Parts or other local factors. It is worth checking the item is a new unit or a remanufactured unit and the warranty period. I've seen some shocking remans recently.

EDIT: I've just checked on my system, they range in price from £120 - £250, depending on brand and if going for a brand new unit or not.

Cheers for looking. I would always prefer the vag unit, but for 1.5k that ain't happening haha. Is there anything wrong with OEMs? Any brands to avoid?.

I can get a Hella unit with cooler for 160 currently. Half tempted to buy it.

Cheers for the help and knowledge share!

Hella are a very reputable brand and make a lot of OEM quality components. I can’t comment on their EGRs, but since I see their name on a lot of things, I would be confident buying one from them. VAG sometimes use them for components right from factory like headlights and a lot of other stuff

Nothing wrong with Hella, I've used plenty of their stuff. Wahler and Peirburg are two other good brands.
I've had an issues with Elstock and ECPs cheap option (Starline?), both refunded under warranty but a pain in the arse regardless.

£160 isn't a bad price for Hella, it is around £140 on my trade account (Part Number 6NU358167-021).

GFS has a sale on 'fire56' it's 120 quid off. So I was tempted. Only thing is would a garage fit it for me if I presented it haha

I've bite the bullet and brought the hella for 160, dynes auto were saying the part was 300, worse comes to worst I'll take it back.

I very much doubt you’ll have an issue. As I said, VAG use them for a lot of their components from factory so you should be fine

Is this a main dealer/franchise garage? Indie garages will definitely fit customer parts especially if it's a good brand, it's brand new and you have a receipt. Shop around

No they won't unless they're desperate because supplying the parts and making a margin on them is part of their income.

I've had multiple garages do that for me recently. Even halfords did but they've cracked down on it so no longer do it. OP will find someone that will fit customer parts if he calls around

Maybe it's more dependent on geographical location, certainly here in the southeast garages are not interested in fitting customer supplied parts.

I'm also in the south east, dartford area. The garage is dynes the chain, So that probably doesn't help.

I'll be honest I was going to call around and get more quotes etc but I'm just abit defeated Tbh.

They've said they'll contact me about the brand there going to use but it'll be a middle high / high OEM. Bosch was mentioned, but I'm not a fan of Bosch tbh.

The one I have is Hella.

If no one will fit it then I suppose you could always return it so you're not out of pocket. It is expensive though. As I mentioned there are other ways but will technically make your car illegal.

These emissions things are horrid as they always cause problems. Would be nice to know details of my car's previous owners to see if stuff like this or the famous injectors have every needed replacing but it's now protected under GDPR

Injectors are my next worry, cars are so expensive right now it's hard to find something decent for the money. I'm going to return the part so that should be all dandy.

so its had the car Diag tested and its all gone to crud.

One injector is misfiring. which I know lead to more f'ing up.

ECU housing is apparently loose or something.

EGR is gone - looking like its the COG mech.

800 just to start without parts.

Injectors need to be sent off will take a week.

luckily im at the point where its cost me 65 quid. but Should I just scrap her now?

Wow that certainly is a load of work. If it’s only cost you £65 somehow then maybe sell it. The 1.6 TDI injectors are notorious. That could be the only one to fail or the rest may follow no one knows. Up to you really

I've pretty much seen when one goes they generally follow.

Frustrating, it's going to be scraped not going to spend thousands on a car worth just over 2k, looking at a 17 golf GTi now lol. The 2 year warranty was swinging me on 5here approved. Over the 1 year for Skoda.
