Suspension upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a question about the suspension in my 1.8t 4x4 octavia. It currently has billstein shocks (i dont know what type) and i am interested in buying better ones for lowering the car and of course better handling, keeping in mind that is a daily and the roads in greece are bumpy EVERYWHERE. Can someone recommend a set arround 400 euros (if you dont my give me the link to buy them). THANK YOU :)

Which is impossible; dampers have no effect on ride height.

If your  "roads are bumpy everywhere" then you should not be looking to lower the ride height, quite the opposite in fact.

maybe i did not set it very clear. i want to fit coilovers not just aftermarket dumpers with seperate springs

Having driven a lot in Greece and its islands I wouldn't want to stiffen the suspension up to much.

Where I live in South Scotland we have similar roads so I opted too improve my anti roll bars front and rear changed the 205 50 17 tyres for some Goodyear eagle f1 225 45 17 and suspension on KYB shocks and new OE springs. So on straight driving the suspension has a supple ability to keep the rubber on the road and I can really lean on the new roll bars in the corners.

I'd love to raise the height of my vrs but it's a bit of an unnecessary expense I reasoned. Those spacers I've seen, cost about £140 for all 4, to get an extra 30mm...just worried it'll change the handling too much and I'll crash. No doubt the insurers will need to know as well. Roads are really bad after winter as everyone in the UK knows too well
