Swapping 2009 estate tailgate for 2010 tailgate

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Maybe a long shot question but - does anyone know if a 2010 Fabia estate tailgate will fit onto a 2009 car? I want to replace my boot as it's horrible and rusty, and I've found one in the right colour for a good price. I've listed it below, with a 2009 tailgate (in a different colour) for reference. An added bonus is that it's quite close to me

They look pretty identical to me, but I suppose the only way to know is to go there and see if it fits.

Yes, of course it will fit.

ok thanks, that's great news

Tail gate fits the only difference is of course the main model change ie- mk1, mk2 mk3, the estate hatch does fit the hatchback from the year you are looking at, I think it's only the rear doors that are different as the estate has a different window set up to the hatch front doors etc are the same

Really?

I'm not au fait with the Fabia and cannot visualise it but as an one time Body in White designer it seems extremely unlikely to me unless one or both variants look completely fugly and a cut n shut abortion.

Hatchback rear doors are usually, no I would say always much more raked than an estate version, if the same rear door fitted both then it would not be an estate but a LWB hatchback.

Actually if you wanted to go full on fugly then you could keep the same wheelbase and have an extended overhang.
