Ive read depending on the tune, well more the torque, the DSG wont need a remap?

If i see correctly you got roughly 80Nm more than stock. I would say DSG remap should help to extend clutch and gearbox lifespan.

Could this help with wheelspin in 1st/2nd gear?

To some extent, yes. Part of DSG remap is setting torque limiter on lower gears.

pretty surprised that standard warranty is different in France

It's different all over Europe. 2 years is minimum you can get, and this is what you get also in Poland. You can extend it.

However for example Seat had 5 years of warranty in Poland for many years now, while in UK it was 2 or 3 years.

And today was my day 🙂, results in line with the ones from @DutchVRS, I am getting 324,1 HP at 5372 rpm with 492 Nm at 2850 rpm. I would say I have higher torque values due to the fact that I did DSG

  • I don't either to be fair, I've just over a year to wait for my warranty to run out anyway so hopefully any pros and cons will be better known by then.

Anyway of course all of those numbers are given with some tolerance. As far as i know in reality DQ200 is ok up to 300Nm.

You can increase that somewhat by increasing hydraulic pressure for clutch operation, as well as using torque limiter on 1st and 2nd. And this is why DSG remap should be done.

Edit: Now i read your link. Interesting, didn't know 381 is AWD AND FWD. Always thought it's AWD only, and 380 is FWD only. Well, we learn whole life, and die stupid anyway :)

I know a DQ200 is ok above 300 Nm having ran twinchargers with stage 1 and stage 2, with and without uprated clutches.  And with and without software update. Over 320 Nm.   PS kidology.  Polo GTI 2015, 1.8 TSI 192 ps.  The supposed lighter manual with lighter gearbox has 320 Nm max and the dq200 DSG just 250 Nm.    Weighing the cars, dynoing them and taking them up a strip shows how VW engineers official figures.  As they do with Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat.   Amazingly heavier cars can be more efficient when the RRP is higher.

@Felix2021 - loving your last sentence, hahaa! I'll be using that quote a lot...at work!

There is no LSD, but there is a VAQ diff.  (needs oil changes at 3 years /30,000 miles or sooner.)

@toot different dealers stating different things..not needed, 4 yrs, 3 yrs...however been told by dealer who spent a fair amount of time confirming that its required every 2 years!!! Mind boggling!!

They will have that in writing then from someone in the know.

They should be able to give you a copy of what they do when a car has a Full Service History to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or schedule'.

TELLING CUSTOMERS THE VAQ NEEDS SERVICED WOULD BE A GOOD STARTER.

*If in high powered vehicles or driven aggressively then 20,000 miles is recommended.   So that is OK.*,

they are there to be driven in a spirited manner.

@Toot - thanks for the update with the HILARIOUS illustration ;)

Pretty disconcerting that there is no "agreed" service schedule as such, I think I mentioned earlier that for DSG oil change it was a pick of....Not required/8years/4years!! Choose one!??

It has started. 351 HP.

Kdaj se bo pa pri nas 'začelo'...? 😎

I don't know. 😁 Need to think about it. Second thing is that tuners need to buy a new device for remapping gen.4 engines and since Slovenia is quite a small market, not sure if (when) tuners will buy it.

What cover is that? Its not listed on their website?

And today was my day 🙂, results in line with the ones from @DutchVRS, I am getting 324,1 HP at 5372 rpm with 492 Nm at 2850 rpm. I would say I have higher torque values due to the fact that I did DSG remap as well. Similar hardware but I am running on SP98 E5.

Tomorrow I will test a bit on open road … but from the 20 km coming back home on highway … indeed there is way more throttle response at the same rpm range.

Well done! Bravo!

What remap do you have? Racingline or some other?

Thanks a lot! 🙂 The one from a local tuner … for sure it's not the best one, but for its purpose, way enough.

If any of you interested Racingline stage1 remap give you about 257kw on 98ron program. If you choose 95ron program you have about 15-20hp less power. These numbers is on stock car. Lower torq program

In the UK Unleaded 95 ron is E10 only and Super Unleaded is E5 and will be 97 or 99 ron min.

The VW Group & those retailing tuning maps seem to have failed to notice that 98 octane has not been sold in the UK for over a decade.

That is OK though as the 97 ron can be Min and is the 99, not all the same amount of ethanol around the UK.  I like the ethanol.

It was always Tesco Momentum 99 for me unless it was BP 102 ron when it used to be available in Scotland for High Days and Holidays,

then it had to be Hyperflo 250 102 ron for smiles on 1/4 miles.

http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/need-help/need-help-faqs/fuel.html

There is something different with ESSO.

That is that Greenergy (part owned by TESCO PLC) that produce and distribute Tesco Momentum 99 also do the same with ESSO fuels in some of the UK.

Thinking about doing this with lower torque with RacingLine...a little unsure tho as they say DSG map not required for low torque map but torque goes upto 480NM and (I believe) max on DQ381 box is 430Nm?? Am I overthinking it, being told gearbox can take it and more

This dsg created for 430nm stock max, but it has a reserve. So stage 1 numbers is acceptable to increase till 500nm . If more you want you need to do things, remap, increase preasure i think .... i dont know exacly what , but from 500nm action must be taken
