Furby vRS Coolant Leak

Featured Replies

Done a quick search seems to be all 1.4s that suffer.

I've got a coolant leak - the temp light came on and the coolant was pretty low - topped it up but there's a patch on the drive where it's obviously been leaking - can feel a bit of dampness under the car just back from the bumper - are there any common failure points where tightening a jubilee clip or giving a pipe a nudge back on will stop the leak or do i need a day off to see the stealer?

Thanks,

Steve.

It 's ussually the temp sensor for the cooling fan and the only remedy is replacement of the seal. It's not a big job

Dealer job then :thumbdwn:

Time to do? Would it be a pop in and wait or a courtesy car job?

Only an hour I would of thought.

Please bear in mind if you wait around for it they will want to wait for it to cool down first.

But best get it pressure tested to find the leak first anyhow. I assume the cap was locked on properly?

Yeah, cap seemed fine - clicked off when I unscrewed it. I initially thought that maybe it had been overfilled at it's service and just splurged with today being a really hot day but having topped up and driven it back home (luckily was parked next door to a Halfords when the light came on) there's some collected on the undertray so I guess it's more serious - also seems to be coming from low down as it's dry higher up. There was some white residue on the outside of the coolant reservior though

Is it a bit like oil in that a tiny bit goes a really long way when it spills out?

Good point about it cooling down though - that'll be an hour or more I'd have thought befroe they even look at fixing the car :thumbdwn:

Edit: Ross do you know if dealers tend to be able to fit things in that are potentially serious like this or would I go to the back of the queue and perhaps have to wait a week?

Im sure they wil be able to look at it very quickly if not while you wait and then be able to advise on what needs doing.

Chances are its something really simple.

Or you could call Skoda assist I guess.

I guess you mean the AA cover that comes with the car or is it something different? I guess they could look and work out exactly what's wrong then my dealer could give me exact times and whether they can fit it in...

Good idea
