Just had test drive DSG questions in traffic

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just had a test drive in a 2018 1.6 tdi estate. It’s done 110,000miles and had cam belt done. Dealer said car was juddering when they got it so replaced clutch and fly wheel.

my question is when I was in stop/start traffic when I took my foot off the brake the revs increased slightly and the car moved fwd. When I broke the revs dropped. Is this normal with a DSG? It felt great under normal driving but not very smooth in a queue of traffic

Sounds like auto hold was disabled

Sounds normal if car doesn't have auto hold or it is disabled.

Ahh ok thanks for replies.

I was going to try and test drive another to compare.

I know the 2.0 is probably better for high miles but anyone got experience of the 1.6 over 100,00miles?

You do have to remember the DSG is essentially just like a manual clutch. So think how and what the clutch has to do with the engine to not stall as you’re braking and accelerating in stop start traffic.

Just done some research, the car had receipts to a company Kindertons Ltd, they are an accident repair group and lease over 700 taxis

Ahh well, it seemed good but back to the search

if you are interested I have for sale my Skoda superb 2016 executive 2.0tdi dsg with 53k miles.  Full service history + new dsg gearbox replaced in February under warranty.  The car is still under warranty thanks to Skoda-all-in until the end of July 2023.
