SOS Fault

Featured Replies

After many years of Octavia Scout joy I really dislike this Octavia IV. It’s latest fault is the SOS function. The dealer cleared the code rather than diagnosing and fixing the problem. It used to make a couple of bizarre noises from the speaker then display the fault. Now it seems to be on all the time.

i have had loads of electrical warning messages such as headlights out, front assist not working, handbrake and P not engaging when switched off, random alarm activations, not being able to unlock car at all, main display just ‘loading settings’ for the entire journey,  Apple Car play randomly disconnects or refuses to connect at all and a few I’ve forgotten.

Does anybody know if these are known issues with a fix as don’t want to waste time taking it in just for faults to be cleared

Cheers

I suspect that 99% of your trouble is down to the infortainment system, it is now the beating heart of the car and VAG has decided to funnel all the user messages through.  There are many threads here on the SOS fault, and the main software of the units being generally being trash from factory.

Everything has to work in harmony, so if you update one control module or the main infotainment system, then everything has to be raised up to the same sort of level, otherwise messages are read by it, and it doesn't understand how to display it (so crashes or throws up fake messages)

It might be an idea for you to go to your car and try to read in the software version loaded on your infotainment system and post back here.  You will be holding down Menu/Setup button a few seconds to get up the version infomation.  Then I can check what is out there available and then you are armed with the information to be able to say to the dealers there is a TPIxxxxxxx number for this exact problem I am having.

Thanks for your comprehensive reply. It’s been so crap today it won’t even get past the ‘loading settings’ page so I can’t get the current SW revision or even listen to the radio!

Will update as soon as I do

When it does this, try and hold down power button for about 10 seconds to force a reboot.

Might work, but seems a bit poorly.

Tried the forced reboot, but no joy.

Update. Dealer can’t get me in until 20th Dec. Advised me to call Roadside Assistance who weren’t best pleased. Spoke to another branch and car booked in for 6th Dec.

Picked the car up from the dealer yesterday. They’ve replace a gateway module and updated the software. Now I don’t have Smartlink, ACC, Front Assist, Limiter and Mode button does nothing at all. Great.

Sounds like they forgot a step in activating all your codes for fitted parts.

Called not following the TPI document 🙄

It’s also called pi55ing me off. I’m so glad I’ve rejected the damn thing and it will soon be gone.
