Wiper blade not touching the glass

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

anyone else had this kind of issue with the windshield wiper blades? Passenger side blade tip not touching the glass. Tried Bosch 480mm and 450mm blades and oem but same problem.

I get that regularly on my Suzuki but less so on the Skodas.  It simply means that the curvature of the blade doesn't match the scree and they need dismantling and the steel 'springs' either side of the rubber blade adjusting and bending a bit more so they touch the screen.

Are they definitely genuine bosch aerotwins you tried. I've never noticed that issue.

There is no metal spring or spline AFAIK. The wiper mounts onto the end of the arm and tge blade itself should be flexible enough to flex against the screen.  Have you tried maybe heating the blades up by soaking in warm or slightly hot water b4 fitting. Seems strange this would only affect you.

If it wipes well, why would you care how it stands in the bottom most curved part of the windshield ?

There are metal splines and they are either hidden in the rubber at the top edge or internal to the blade below the spoiler profiled section.

With the first slight reshaping is easy.

With the second I have seen it done a small amount with careful and gentle bending of the whole blade.

With the latter type, the usually do two blade profiles, one flatter and one which is noticeably curved when you take it out the box. The latter is flexible and aimed at non flat screens.
