1.6 tdi clutch replacement ?

Featured Replies

Hello all

My skoda is going through a sugar daddy phase 😂. After having 4 injectors, cambelt, thermostat, lambda sensor and a couple vacuum lines the clutch has decided to start slipping.

Yes it is remapped but the clutch has been handling it for the past 12k miles. Pedal was quite high when I brought the car anyway...

I am planning on fitting a sachs clutch.

Just asking for advice on how to do a clutch on these. All help would be appreciated.

I'd do the clutch by paying someone else to fit it, you need an engine support beam and a four poster to do it easily, if you don't have these then you'll be writhing under the car with two trolley jacks and wrestling with a 70kg dead weight while lying on your back in a puddle.

Hello there

You make a good point. I have a 4 poster and a truck workshop at my disposal. Have the jacks to support the engine and gearbox.  If it really is a pain I might give it to someone else but I do prefer working on my own vehicle.

In that case the job is easy, remove the driveshafts and the gearbox, replace the flywheel and clutch assembly together with the clutch slave and put it all back together again.

top side needs to be taken out, air box, battery etc , driveshafts out, gerbox out.

Now it's entirely up to you to do the rear main as well but you need one of these + the oil pan needs to come off in order to apply the sealer on the flange. Stupid design.
