Both our TSI's only ever have Momentum in them, with the rare exception of if it's not available.  I had a tank of 95 Ron three years ago in Italy, and I'm certain I could notice a difference, not perhaps when pootling, but when under load.  It had a tank of Esso Supreme (99) recently when Tesco was closed and I couldn't notice any difference (except in my wallet - think it was £1.99pl).

I definitely noticed the difference between Momentum & the previous e10 I'd been using, whether it be supermarket E10 or Shell E10. Hopefully it'll work just as well from a very cold start.

Well it was -4 this morning and traveled my usual route to work having previously filled up with 99 ron momentum and my car is running very smoothly at lower speeds whilst cold. So on conclusion my car runs better at all temperatures using higher octane fuel.

I'd advise anyone whom is having cold running issues with the 1.5t engine to try some higher octane fuel.

Runs better as well in warmer weather & will emit less emissions, but VW Group had to get them through the WLTP on 95 Ron Uneaded and when the cars early on ran like crap they could not just say use Super Unleaded.

They had to write new maps, but not so the cars would have to be retested / certificated.

Dealerships / Sales people trying to shift a Kangerooer version would know what fuel to have in the tank for road tests though.

Just as those running 'Media Days / Launches for Journalists' know.

Journalists never question that though. 'Is this car running Super Unleaded, or even a tweak / remap?'

Not on an All Inclusive Trip to a lovely sunny location'. Or just at a wet 5 star golf resort in the UK.

They only said GTI / R's and Skoda say little, but 1.4 TSI Twinchargers had Super Unleaded as the recommended fuel, but they can run on 95 obviously. Badly though.

Years since Shell changed 98 ron to 99 min.

& BP went from 98 to 97 minimum.   Not that VW Group changed the website.

I suppose manufacturers state that their engines can run on e10, but not necessarily well. At least I've now resolved my issue. I might have a go with Sansburys posh stuff next, as it's a bit cheaper. Over the summer months my car seems to run OK on e10. I really notice the difference when temperatures drop under zero degrees. Although it's smoother all the time now with better power delivery. I suppose with a lower powered naturally aspirated engine you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

I also wonder if E10 fuels extra water content does not help the engine, either.

It is 97 ron minimum.  and that can very well be MINIMUM,

just like Tesco Momentum 99 is 99 ron Minimum.  It can feel like 100/ 100 + stuff from Continental Europe, because sometimes that is what it is.
