Fuel tank pressuriasation 2016 Superb 4x4 wagon

Featured Replies

Greetings from New Zealand. Twice in the last month, my fuel tank pressurises and allows fuel to bypass the filler cap and drain to the ground via the small overflow pipe below the filler neck. This occurs even with only half full capacity. NZ franchise service dealer has never heard of the problem and advises that there are no technical service bulletins that refer to this problem. When I discovered it, I released the fuel cap and was able to hear a rush of air escape the tank and a small amount of fuel drain back down the filler neck. I note on earlier forums here that this is not an unknown problem in the UK. Has anyone solved the problem yet and how? Just love the car, but need this possibly dangerous fault remedied!

hey its a well known problem in the 280 4x4 - long thread here

basically the evap system needs a new canister and evap valve. i had to get mine done under warranty, so they should be able to sort it

Cheers mate! I'll follow that info up with the local dealer here! Much appreciated!

The valve is easy to check, it’s on the top of the engine (under the plastic cover). Hoses held on by spring clips. It should not be possible to blow through it when unpowered. 2 minutes to check it.  Not expensive either.

Hi there, I was wondering how you got on with fixing this issue? I am currently experiencing the very same issue with my Skoda Superb however my local dealership have been unsuccessful in finding any faults.

Im at a complete loss! I had the fire brigade at my home because we were so worried about the amount of petrol that was leaking out onto the road yet the dealership claim it hasn’t leaked once since it’s been in their possession for the last week. They have run various tests and can find no faults.

Any insights would be much appreciated, thank you!
