Servicing QG2 oil query

Featured Replies

The service book for my 2011 Fabia Greenline II shows it to be on QG2 service intervals.  It’s had all eleven annual services done by the same Skoda dealer and I’ve noticed that in seven of those services they have ticked ‘yes’ in the box “Use engine oil for variable service intervals QG1”.

(On the other 3 entries, no response has been given.)

Is this okay or not?  Could this cause any reliability or running problems?

If you are doing fixed service intervals which early Fabia were then VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS was fine, or the VW 504 00 / 507 00, 5w 30 FS III.

TSI's MPI's.

Same as when Skoda gave the code that the engines could be Variable / Flexible Oil & Filter serviced.

...........................

TDI's.

require VW 504 00 / 507 00  For fixed or variable service intervals.

Petrols.

Thanks for the detailed reply @toot.  Can you dumb it down for me though?🙂

Is using QG1 engine oil in an engine that’s meant to be GQ2 okay?

The car has done 85,000 miles and has been serviced every 12 months.  I haven’t asked for one type of service or another as I assume the dealer knows what they’re doing.

You want 5w 30 FS III to VW 504 00 / 507 00.   So what oil are they using?

Longlife oil used in a car set to QG2 is OK. So use either 50200 or 50400

Non-longlife oil used in a car set to QG1 is not OK. Use only 50400.

It doesn’t specify on the invoice.  All it says is “51 SERVICE Carry out oil and inspection service 185.  Carried out oil and inspection service.  Retail oils/litre: quantity 4.3”

I suppose I’ll need to ask them to clarify.

Your car is lasting well and going well is it not.

Who are you paying all the money to for not much getting done with an Oil & Inspection Service, and maybe the Extended Scope?

It is a Mk2 Greenline II with a 1.2 TDI is it not?

So it shows as 'VW 504 00 / 507 00' required.

Agreed: I inexplicably thought we were discussing a petrol car.

I’ve checked the rest of the paperwork and the maintenance list says they’re using VW 507 00.

Thanks for all the replies.
