Loading user profile issue AGAIN

Featured Replies

I need some help guys, I’ve had my car in to Skoda the other week due to loading user profile sticking on the screen and sos error issue.

The ocu was swapped out and the sos issue has been fixed, But I’m still having issues with the infotainment system freezing or looping on loading user profile - mainly happens if I’ve been in the car already and then jump back in 5 minutes later (only way to resolve is leave the car off around 30 mins)

I’m stuck on what to do next apart from go back to my dealer - I’m on the latest 1560 firmware version and I’ve also factory reset the head unit aswell.

My Scala has suffered with the “loading user profile” intermittently for ages. Tried deleting my “user”, but as with all bad software, the problem got worse (I guess it was still looking for a non-existent profile!).

When it let me, I reset to factory settings and now all is well.

I suggest that unless you really need a profile, you do the same and all profiles will be gone. At least you get your Amundsen infotainment back, even if you need to add your settings again.

You can always let your dealer meddle at the next service…

This problem returned intermittently until I got the software fully updated, July 2023  under warranty. I believe mine was the original 2020 version, which really was not up to the job.

Now fixed.

What is a user profile? and why do you have to be reminded of it in your car?

I could never see the point of giving away personal information to the next owner

or the skoda techs.

You have my sympathy. I had exactly the same on my Scala. Replacing the “control unit” under warranty seemed to work for a week or so, then the problem returned (during that time my spare key no longer worked because the dealer did not recode it).

I had a fight to get them to fully update the software, which I believe was the original and therefore around 3 years old. The previous owner probably just put up with the problem during Covid, then sold the car.

The new software has fixed the problem for me, but as I am the only driver and the car has few “bells and whistles”  I have no user set.  Maybe that the new software realises there is no primary user and therefore doesn’t wait for a non-existent profile.

It works for me.

check independently that you have the latest software, and try with and without a primary user.

Good luck!

AFAIK There is not much personal info, it’s more about detecting who is driving  and setting preferences of temperature etc. Fine if you have a high spec Superbe, etc and have the seats adjusting automatically. For the likes of me, it is pointless.
Your profile name can be anonymous.
You can be greeted with “ Hi Batman” if  that floats your boat.

i have never understood the way the key profile, user profile,  app etc all work with each other. Too much froth and not enough beer…

You can easily delete your preferences and private info before selling the car.

You can delete users so ridding information when you sell. But yes its a bit overkill for some and a personal touch to others.
