Oil sensor workshop warning

Featured Replies

Hello,

Four weeks ago I started to get a warning of Oil Sensor Workshop. It was very intermittent, it would appear and disappear multiple times during a journey. A search suggested it could be water in the connector, which my local garage found (unprompted) when I took it in. They said it had water in the connector, was giving an excessively high temperature reading and after drying and greasing gave the correct value.

Four weeks on and the warning is back. Can anyone tell me where the connector in question is please so that I can check it for water again, and try to determine why it has reappeared so soon?

I know another potential fault is wiring loom wear but I'm hoping water in the connector given the previous experience.

Thank you very much. A

Sorry I don't know it's location but it might vary depending on which engine (code) you have.  You could look on a parts diagram, example on 2015 engines. - https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2015-797/1/

If it's a known fault you'd hope there might be info on this to garage services on the information systems they subscribe to and Dealership technical bulletins, perhaps even recalls (but I doubt it we are talking about vehicle manufacturer) you could perhaps check on the following links for updates (perhaps on other stuff too/instead of).

Thank you for the links @nta16, I will have a look and see if I can turn anything up :)

Look on your V5 document, and report back the engine code.

Have you got an engine undertray fitted?

This should protect the oil sensor from water splashes.

Maybe not from deep water though.

Thanks. AG Falco

That's brilliant, thank you. It's where I suspect it would be from what little I'd found online. Time to find a friend with ramps!

Should be. I did hit a 1-2 inch deep puddle on the offside about a week ago so perhaps that's the trigger. On three short journeys yesterday and today the warning hasn't come up. I'll still see if I can get a look at it though.

Thank you everyone at Briskoda :)

Kind regards, Alec
