Automatic door locking

Featured Replies

My wife's Skoda Karoq is just over 4 years old, and the automatic door locking is playing up. Locks as normal when she drives off but the minute during a drive the car slows to 10mph there are a couple of clicking noises from somewhere as though the doors are unlocking then locking again. Does it everytime car slows to 10mph.

Anyone experienced this and/or knows what the problem is?

A lot of posts on here about this problem, it's a well known fault.

If you have had it from new and serviced at main dealer see if they will do it.

I had my locks renewed under the  " All in One Warranty" service plan.

Hello sussamb - My 18 plate SEL DSG Karoq  started doing this back in October last year, the exact same symptoms, and I believe it was caused by power surges due to low battery charge.  I noticed this when driving down a road that had lots of roundabout spaced a few miles apart.  On the way back, same route, a few days later I did not notice any problems and the central locking has behaved itself since.  I have noticed, and read on other posts in this forum, that if the battery has a low charge the Karoq seems to have strange electrical problems.  Might be worth taking your Wife's car for a long drive, or use a compatible charger (the ones the support auto start/stop) to fully charge the battery and see if that makes any difference?  Hope this helps, or at least gives a potential explanation.

Hmmm ... did a search earlier and couldn't see anything specific to our problem, I'll have another look. Thanks

That was my thought but today we drove over 90 minutes to meet friends for lunch and it was still doing it, so don't think it's that,  but will check battery charge levels. Thanks

I have heard it is due to too much grease in the locks when made by contractors causing problems with electrical contacts.

My locks were intermittently working not working,  auto locking when moving going nuts, dealer just changed the locks as they were aware of the problems.

Thanks, don't think it's that as they've worked for over 4 years. Car is now out of warranty so hoping to avoid a trip to a dealer. For now I've switched off automatic door locking until I can investigate further.
