Just had a tow bar fitted by a professional (not dealer), all OEM wiring etc. Now when locking the car, the alarm goes off and/or the indicators flash rapidly. The Maxidot shows a rapidly flashing image of the tailgate, but not red as it does when the tailgate is open and the inbuilt torch flashes too.

 

If we press the tailgate unlock button the alarm state goes off.

 

If we rearm, it repeats above.

 

Is there a sensor that is not working/disconnected? Is there an adjustment on the tailgate latch we could look at?

Solved!

 

The chap from PF Jones is a clever bloke, he discovered that the nearside boot light was causing the issue. He disconnected it and everything now works just fine. During my own search just now, I found this which seems to be the same/related thing: 

So all is now well 😁
