0-60 trials

Featured Replies

Hullo

I met up with a couple of mates, the one with the 4.0l XJR I mentioned a while back, and another who has just got an XJS V12.

We did a few 0-60 trials, along a quiet straight bit of A road near where I live. I did about 8 to 10 little go's with mate's g.f in the passenger seat, timing. As it was slightly uphill we did runs up and down, and my average over the whole time was around 11 seconds flat. I didn't think this was too bad given the road was quite damp. My worst was 12.8 seconds, uphill when I fecked up a gear change, and my best was 10.03 downhill, and doing it "proper" like. :D

So, we now have the times to compare to when I get back from this weekend.

For the record, the XJR (4.0l) averaged around 10 flat and below to 60 (best of 9.0) - but it only really picked up at high revs. The XJS V12 averaged below 9 seconds, but looked a lot quicker too. For the record I was the only one's car beat the official book 0-60 time. :D

(oh and in case the XJR owner is reading this (he's a browser, never posts. :p) I was able to corner a lot quicker than both of them - the fact they can accelerate away quicker from bends.... I'm ignoring it)

Jason, how many times did your mate have to fill up in his XJS V12 :D

Well - I understand it was full when we started, but judging by the way he was screaming past the layby we were parked at around a ton in 2nd gear, I doubt he had much fuel in the tank when he got home! :D (It was my own personal private road BTW)

The feeling of a Jag shooting past within a few metres is something else! I doubt they got the same effect when I shot past at 80, chugging away!

Diesel Car's review of the Furbi TDi quotes 0=>60 as 9.0 secs....

...That's 0.6 quicker than the vRS. Another case of a 'Standard!' Skoda being supplied for review???

9 flat in a standard PD100 is just not possible! - what a joke! - 9 seconds flat is what I hope to consider my average 0-60 after I've been tweaked. I really hope. Maybe a tenth below with a little air intake pipe fiddling too. :D

I swear you do it on purpose... :p
