Software Updates - How to Check?

Featured Replies

I got my car second hand in July 2020 with 79,000miles on the clock. Its now up to 140,000 miles. It's only ever been to a Skoda dealer once since I bought it which was for a "Health check" immediatley after I got it. I pointed out that the driving 'Mode' button was ( and still is ) inoperative and was told that it may need a software update to fix.

How can I tell how many updates have been applied to my car and how many ( if any ) are likely to have been missed since my ownership began?

Wrong year

Full VCDS scan of entire car.

And in the multimedia, hold down your Menu/Setup button for about 10 seconds to get the "Software Train" information.

Send in both and I can point to all the flash updates and infotainment updates I can see.

EDIT: A snip of what I did for my own car

Added some nice highlights to show the existing version, and the flash files associated with the Part No SW.

Mine now is running 3126

Address 01: Engine (J623-DBKA)       Labels:. 04L-907-309-V1.clb

Thanks Varoom,

I don't have a VCDS scan to hand, it's at home on my other laptop. Will post that later.

Info from the multimedia service mode as follows:

Installed SW Train Version    MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T

Installed SW MU Version    0245

Part No.     5Q0035874A

Software Version H25.24.78_STD2NAV_EU

There is also a 'Versions' sub-menu with the following:

Current Version MST_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T ( 0245 )

Update:  MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T  ( 0245-2 )

Same as mine, update to 0253 is available.

To note as well - higher number doesn’t always mean better. Some software isn’t meant for certain modules or brands.

also just cause you update the software doesn’t mean there will always be a suitable dataset for your car.

im not saying this is always the case but can be the case with certain modules.

the vag group do a weird setup and there is no ‘official’ way to update modules that don’t have an outstanding tsb/recall/service action.

of course modules can be updated using odis-e with the raw file but you need to know what you’re doing.

You can post here (hide your VIN if you like)

Just note if you are planning to flash, it can break things!  (if you have the tools needed)
