Glass wing mirror

Featured Replies

Hi.

So my left heated wing mirror stopped working, the heater. Bought a new glass and replaced it. When I took it out i noticed there was a connector, not the heater, with 2 wires soldered on the backside of the mirror; one on the upper side and one on the lower side.

I cannot find a replacement glass with these wires, only heat-connectors. Anyone know what these wires do? The new one is heated and works but is missing these other 2 wires. It´s the connector on the right side in the pic.

If you drop the SK48 from the start of the product code, then the rest of the code corresponds with side mirror glass for a Range Rover by the looks of it (which seems to have your two wires). So, a complete stab in the dark, but did a previous owner / garage discover that the glass from a completely different vehicle would fit the Superb and just decide to go with it?

As to what the wires do? No idea, but maybe auto-dimming feature or something similar? Certainly the side mirrors on my Skoda Superb (58 plate) don't have wires, just the heat connector.

Sorry, should have mentioned that the pic is not my glass, just looks like it.

And as usual I found the glass as soon as I posted this. Been looking for several days. The difference in cost is huge. Just heated 10-30euros. With auto dimming 300.
