Roof glasses compartment fault?

Featured Replies

Hi guys , first post, please don't shoot me if the question has been asked before,  I did search first!

So I bought my fabia 2017 plate new, only done 30000 miles due to illness.

Bushes have been replaced already along with cambelt at 30000.

Today , not for the first time , I noticed a drop of water coming from the sunglasses compartment in the roof, I guess this is condensation?

Anyway,  after opening the compartment it now doesent close, saying that I've got it to close, but not without having to mess about with the catch. It doesent engage with the other piece . Is there a fix on this or will it be a new one? There's not much to the catch so I guess this is happening in other cars.

Thanks all

A leak, not condensation, you should prioritise finding and sealing it.

The water may well have damaged the mechanism, new ones are very cheap to buy on Ali-Express.

I've taken the glasses compartment out of the roof lining today,  and this has revealed water clinging to the roof, it hasn't rained here for 3 days at least , is it roof bars leaking or condensation? Thanks in advance20230201_132812.thumb.jpg.6c2d6f82e03fa8a9bae7cc131ac5e54b.jpg

I take back what I said, it is condensation, I read elsewhere that you have misting problems.

Feel under all the carpets, you may have a leak further down and when the moisture evaporates it condenses on the highest coldest part, elsewhere the roof is insulated but those droplets may well have run down elsewhere.

If you find damp lower down others can advise you on door seals, door drains, door plastic membranes, scuttle drains etc.
