Got myself a vRS

Featured Replies

Just wanted to share, my new Octavia vRS will be arriving in about two weeks time, which makes me very happy:) I have traded VW Passat 2.0FSI for it, although Passat is much quieter and comfier car the vRS drives like a manic but the suspension is still quite comfortable.

Few questions straightaway:

1. I am planning to remap the engine to 260hp, have anybody done that already in here and does this really make a difference, this proceedure is quite expansive here in Finland (around 1000Euros) so just wanted to make sure that i could really fill the difference:)?

2. vRS is going to be our Family car so it will be carrying my wife and a son so i would the remapping make the car unconfortable to drive slow?

3. Does anybody know what is a proper size of winter wheels for this car?

thank you!

Welcome :wavey:

1. Yes, you will notice it. Have a look for posts by someone called shifty. He has had it done

2. Nope, it will be just like a standard one - you will notice it when you accelerate however. Economy will, on the whole, improve, provided that you don't drive everywhere with a heavy right foot.

3. At a guess, 16" although IIRC some of our icelandic members use 17s or 18s. Not sure what size wheels you had on the Passat, but your old winter wheels may fit (make not go over the brakes).

Thanks for your answers, on Passat i had 205\55-16 winter wheels and i was thinking that thye should fit just ok.

I think the new Octy has the same wheel fitment as the Passat (the old one didn't, it had a a different PCD). Your only problem may be the actual size of the brakes, however, if it is anything like the old RS, 16" rims will fit.

Congratulations with the new car! I now you'll be happy with it

I've had a remap too, by BSR in Sweden. You will definately feel the difference :D . My remap doesn't provide the extra power until the engine has reached working temperature. That gives me a daily reminder of how it its in standard trim. Overtaking is a breeze and so much fun!

The ability to drive slowly has not been affected, but you may not want to ;)

I have 16" spiked winter tyres and there's no problem, but you cannot go any smaller than that.

MrSwede: Thanks, i am also thinking about BSR remap, they also have this nice system that you can connect PCC tuning system to your data port and remap your ecu yourself (you can download setttings from internet) but the best thing is that you can revert back to your standard settings before you go to for the waranty repairs:)

do you have 205\55-16''?

Yes, the PPC is a very nice feature. I havn't "untuned" my car yet though, but it's good to know that it's possible and very easy. It's also easy to make sure you have the latest software in your car. 248 hp is enough I think and the car sounds better too :)

My winter tyres are in storage at the dealer and I don't remember the exact size, but 205/55-16 sounds about right (might be a bit wider though).

My vRS Estate arrives on Wednesday 14th. With EVERYTHING. In Blue

I can't WAIT. ~If anyone wants my old vRS (Black, 126K miles, FSH) it'll be cheap.
