Windows Steaming Up

Featured Replies

My Superb is a taxi which I have owned from practically new.

This last year I have had an issue with the windows steaming up and usually when there are more than two in the car (including myself).

There are no wet carpets at all.

The blower motor works as it should.

However, the rear window heater is not working so could this be the issue?

This happens throughout the year.

Thanks

You should run the AC 24/7 if you aren't already doing so.  It will keep the moisture at bay.

You can also check cabin filter is not damp, as it shouldn't be.

Ok thanks.  I'll check the filter. Although it's normally changed with the service..unless it hasn't been  changed ;)

Let us know if that's bone dry.  Do you run with the AC on all the time?

Will do...yes mostly run the ac

I don’t have AC on all the time on our 2014 SII. I have the recirculation set to Auto. Check you do not have recirculating on, as that causes steaming occasionally. Also as mentioned, check your cabin filter, but rather whether it is not dirty and clogged up. An old cabin filter will allow a lot less air volume through.

Thanks very much for the input on this,

I can confirm that the cabin filter is bone dry and was actually only relatively recently replaced as by my garage invoice.

I spoke to my mechanic today and we notice there is some clicking going on and he was wondering if there is any motorised ventilation flap is faulty.

I dont normally have the car in re circulation mode.. just need to check with my drivers as to how they run it,

Will update as and when and thanks again

I'm pleased to report that the problem is fully solved.

I mentioned that there is a clicking sound... which even carried on after the ignition was off.. so it was thought that this could be a problem with a motorised air vent.

I did a search and came across this which was for the Octavia but also relates to the Superb:

This resets the ventilation which I presume reset the what may have been a sticky vent flap.

So all is good now... have worked the cab since  the reset with no issues at all now.

Thanks for the input 😉
