When I use android auto with Google maps or Waze I do not get any audio directions, although I used to get them. I have maps set to 'play through Bluetooth' and waze set to 'play through car speakers', but nothing. What I do notice is that the radio mutes during the times I would be expecting directions, so i think it means it is trying to give directions audio. If I use the apps on thier own (Not android auto) I get sound from the phone. Any one else had this problem and if so have you got it sorted. TIA.

When the radio mutes use your volume scroll wheel on your steering wheel and increase the volume as it sounds like it’s set low.

I use the built in satnav and that’s how you can increase the sound, rather than in the menus. It’s worth a shot

Yes, there's no problem with sound using the car's satnav, just that Waze is a better app IMHO. I'll try the volume, but then what happens when the announcment is finished, will the radio caome roaring back and deafen me.

I left Waze's voice on phone speaker

What interesting, for BT sources volume is decreased on Waze msgs, but FM not

Nope, there are two volume settings - one for audio and one for announcements.  Sounds like the latter has been reduced to zero.  Danoid's suggestion above should sort it.

Well thanks for all the replies. went out today and tried changing the volume when the radio muted and.....it worked! So now I shouldn't get lost anymore, but don't count on it. lol
