Declaring wind deflectors as a modification

Featured Replies

Hi guys, a possibly stupid question for you all. I know I'm supposed to declare wind deflectors to my insurance because it is technically a modification,  but I can't figure out what to declare them as. I'm with Hastings and the only wind modification options I can select are 'window tint' or 'additional windows'. Does anyone have any idea of how else they might be listed?

I declared mine, just to be on the safe side. No changes to premium. But regardless I'd rather pay that little bit more than have my insurance marked null should my car get friendly with a field or whatever.

@varooom Cheers for the link

@AnnoyingPentium You're absolutely right, I was always going to declare them to be safe. I just can't figure out what to declare them as because 'wind deflectors' isn't an option I can choose from when trying to edit my policy. Sadly it's as difficult as always to try to contact my insurance to try to ask

My note to the insurance company when I declared my Octavia L&K wheels and wind deflector mods :D

Adrian Flux might even still have it on file :D

It's worth seeing if it your "extensive" list of mods makes it cheaper to go with a specialist than a standard car insurer. I did it once for an air filter to save a fair bit on my premium. Only problem was, I then had to go buy an aftermarket air filter.

Hi.

We have the facility to enter any type of modification on our system regardless if it doesn't appear on an official modification database.

Regards,

Dan.
