Hi all new to the site , I have a 1.9tdi 130  engine its a PD in my car and wondering what the excessive white smoke from start up is ( it will literally fill the street ) but after 5 mins or so it will go , I can drive around all day stopping and starting back up again and I'll not see it again till the next morning any suggestions would be helpful

Thanks in advance

I have been told it could be the PCV valve on the top of the rocker cover anything else would be a.help thankyou

Well, the 5 minutes is way excessive, but the first thing I thought of was dead glowplugs.

Tbh I have only had the car about a month and I have to put a new n75 valve on it and it started after that and that was last week  but today I started it for first time in couple days , fired up straight away with no smoke

This is in a Passat?

Sounds like oil build up, have you checked and cleaned the EGR and the intercooler pipe work?

If it really is white not blue the check the coolant and make sure you’re not losing any into the cylinders?

The PCV is valid too as if not functional can cause oil to end up where it shouldn’t.

Right sorry to everyone for lack of info on car so I'll start with what's been done to the car

The car is Passat 1.9 TDI 130 highline estate it's a 54 plate car

I swapped a not very good Audi A6 for this Passat it's had stupid coilovers which made it rediculously low so had to wind them right up ( I want to put it back to standard if anyone interested in swapping lol )

Nice Audi A6 wheels but stupid low profile tyres on ( I'll swap these for standards if anyone interested too )

It's had a de-cat pipe put on and a full EGR blanking kit

apparently a stage 1 remap ( no proof )

I love the car but needs go back to standard suspension cause I'm old and hate the ride 🤣

I'm writing all this down not as a sales pitch lol but I'm just telling a bit about my car because these things might contribute to the smoke

At one point I'd drive the car and I'd loose all boost pressure if I turned ignition of them back on the boost would return

Thanks I'll check pipework thier is no EGR and it doesn't loose water so assume it's going be the PCV I'll take it off clean it all out and see what happens thanks

Sadly when modified it can be a pain as it could be so many possibilities around bits being fitted incorrectly.

Coilover wise I would just buy new top mounts, spring, bump stops and something like bilstein b4 shocks.

Essentially take it back to brand new OEM spec and check the wishbone bushes etc too.

You will save a chunk on insurance and a chunk on physio. 😂

once off you can probably get a reasonable amount for a coil over kit for the Passat on eBay or similar.

These physio prices are climbing 😂
