Fabia MK1 door lock barrels

Featured Replies

Hi all, my driver side door lock barrel has been getting stiffer to unlock until a few weeks ago when I'm guessing it completely snapped and the key would just spin when in the barrel, I've taken the barrel out and can't seem to find the exact replacement that'd match the keys which I'd prefer rather than having 2 different sets of keys. Anyone know what barrel this key would take. Thanks alot.

You can't just order a barrel to suit your keys, if you want one key to do everything then you'll need a complete lockset to replace everything.

@Bjohn2544 Just take key and VIN to a Skoda Dealer Parts desk and they'll be able to order a matching barrel for you.

That was a very long time ago, I'd be extremely surprised if it were still possible, so many parts have been deleted now and dealers are under no obligation to supply obsolete parts any more.

Worth a try I guess but it's not like a dusty lock will be sitting on a shelf somewhere, it'll be a special order of a brand new part

I ordered one for a MK1 fabia about 5-7 years ago through a local locksmith ("local" Skoda parts counter is 40 miles away, he could read the key code and order it over the phone). It came from TPS ready to fit a few days later. It wasn't as cheap as a pattern one with a random key and he'd marked it up to RRP, but it wasn't terribly expensive.

VAG lock barrels this age are pretty generic. I would imagine they just take an empty barrel off the shelf and assemble it with the relevant wafers.
