Timing belt change 1.0 TSI

Featured Replies

My Seat Toledo (Rapid clone) is coming up for 5 years old so is due it's timing belt done. I've heard it requires a special tool so I'm inclined to get it done by a VAG garage rather than the local.

Seat/VAG seem to offer two options:

Timing belt

Timing belt and water pump

I've always done both at the same time but understand the 1.0tsi has the water pump run off a different belt on the other side of the engine.

What have others done when replacing?

The Water Pump is not required when the Cam Belt is done.

The correct tool is required but it is not a cost a fortune tool as with a 1.5 TSI ACT.

The people you have doing the job need to be able to do it, simple as that really.

?

So yes the recommendations, guidelines are @ 5 years.  How many miles has your car done in that 5 years?

IN THE DUST FREE UK.  Not everywhere in Dust Free Europe or the EU...

It's another one of those "lifetime" belt engines, and of course the debate on change belt or not will be same as ever.
