Front assist warning

Featured Replies

Hi, the front assist has stopped working on our 2021 Fabia. My partner had a very soft 'bump' on a low 8 inch  wall whilst parking so we presume that's the cause. The warning light sometimes goes out over a bump but is on 99% . I tried to get it fixed during our last service but Capitol Newport said it was accident damage and didn't want to help - (I wasn't asking for a warranty repair - I was happy to pay). I don't know if  I need a new sensor -  it's well above the small scratch on the bumper and couldn't have been damaged . I'm at a loss as how to proceed but am worried as it's first MOT will be due in September and I've been told any warning light will fail. Any advice gratefully received.

The joys of owning such a modern car, you may possibly need to get several quotes from accident repair specialist or wherever they send the work to as it may all be about alignment.  When you get quotes you might see why Capitol Newport didn't want to do or quote for the work.

Or perhaps if you're lucky if you take it to someone with the correct level of scan tool it might just be a reset, it depends on how actually "soft" or hard your partner 'bumped' the car.

There's a price for all these safety devices .  .  .

Thanks, nta16. We are more worried about the upcoming MOT and the fact that Front Assist can't be disabled leaving that pesky orange warning light failing the test. I'll attempt to find someone with a suitable scan tool - I've been concentrating on main Skoda dealers to date.

You may well have been misinformed.

The official MOT manual is available to peruse at your leisure here: MOT inspection manual: cars and passenger vehicles - Guidance - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If you can't find something that mentions this specific warning light , or a statement that 'any warning light is a fail', then it is false information you have been told.

Personally if it's local I'd just go and see whoever will be doing the MoT and ask them about it, always pays for that person to regard you favourably.  But you might well find the answer in the link you've ben given (I'm only familiar with recent MoT requirements for a 1973 car).

As always there could be insurance implications too should you be unlucky so best to get it sorted ASAP.

Check that the sensor bracket hasn't been broken - try gently pressing the sensor in different directions.

Thanks Warrior193.  There's a small movement in the black plastic cover, but the brackets seem sound.

A mod can maybe move this to the ,MK3 section.
