Looking for a car for my sister we've been to see a 04 polo with the 1.4 TDI I thought I'd ask you lads and lasses on here about the one problem.

When we first started it up there was a bit of a knock when we opened the bonnet took the rocker cap off and it got louder. But after taking the car up the road and warming it up it you couldnt here unless the cap was off

When was its oil last changed? Mine sounds "quietly tappety" cold, when an oil change is about due.

Diesels are clattery when cold, they should quieten down when hot.
